Luigi Massaro<\/em><\/p><p>Engineering Geology Laboratory <strong>EnGeo-Lab<\/strong> (<strong>En<\/strong>gineering <strong>Geo<\/strong>logy <strong>Lab<\/strong>oratory) of DICEA is located on the 5th floor of the Engineering complex at P.le Vincenzo Tecchio 80, at the historical headquarters of the Institute of Applied Geology of the former Faculty of Engineering.<\/p><p>The Laboratory was established with the aim of combining traditional territorial study approaches with innovative methodologies to address challenges related to hydrogeological instability, engineering geology, and applied hydrogeology. The research and teaching activities of<strong>EnGeo-Lab <\/strong>focus on the study of natural hazards and resources, such as the characterization of rock mass instabilities, landslides, solid transport phenomena in alluvial fans, and the protection and safeguarding of groundwater. Activities include the study of processes, the modeling of phenomena, and the definition of strategies for mitigation and monitoring.<\/p><p>The activities are conducted using state-of-the-art equipment and cutting-edge software, enabling the development of advanced studies to support public and private organizations. Among the main laboratory equipment are drones equipped with optical and LiDAR sensors and field GNSS, essential tools for geological surveying and monitoring based on quantitative analyses. The<strong>EnGeo-Lab <\/strong>is also specialized in the geomechanical characterization of rock masses, in the chemical-physical and hydrodynamic analysis of groundwater, with continuous monitoring systems based on multiparametric probes. These instruments are complemented by advanced software for spatial processing (2D and 3D), temporal data analysis, and stereoscopic photogrammetry, both zenithal and frontal.<\/p><p>Thanks to an effective integration between research, teaching, and third mission activities, the<strong>EnGeo-Lab <\/strong>actively contributes to the development of strategies to prevent and mitigate the effects of extreme events, responding to territorial needs and promoting sustainable management of environmental resources.<\/p><p><strong>Main Teaching and Research Activities<\/strong><\/p><p>The laboratory equipment and software are also used for teaching activities involving the faculty of the GEOS-03\/B APPLIED GEOLOGY sector.<\/p><p>The<strong> EnGeo-Lab <\/strong>supports multiple research activities through:<\/p><ul><li>Technical Geological and Geomorphological Surveying<\/li><li>Geostructural and geomechanical surveys of rock masses, including digital analysis methodologies<\/li><li>Landslide susceptibility analysis at both large scale and single slope scale<\/li><li>Quantitative multi-temporal monitoring for the study of landslide evolution<\/li><li>Design of integrated monitoring systems for landslide-prone areas<\/li><li>Periodic or continuous monitoring of groundwater<\/li><li>Qualitative and quantitative characterization of groundwater<\/li><li>Development and production of geothematic and derived cartography in a GIS environment<\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Responsabile scientifico Prof. Geol.
